I've still got a lot to read, but here is my first round of recommendations.

I'll separate these out into stories where you don't need to know canon, where canon knowledge is helpful, and where it is necessary.

I must say, the fic for The Expanse this year is universally excellent.  I had a hard time restricting myself to only recommending half of them - pick any one, and you'll be in for a good read!

 I have no idea what I did right, but this year I am blessed beyond measure.  I have 5 gift stories written for me (6 if you include the NYR story, which I am!) spread between two different fandoms. And they are all incredible, each revealing very different facets of canons that I love.

Come on in. Sit down. Let me tell you why you should read all six of these stories!
